Nigeria secured a place in the semi-finals of the African Nations
Championship after Anthony Okpotu and Gabriel Okechukwu struck to seal a
win 2-1 over Angola on Sunday.
After a pulsating 90 minutes in Tangier had ended 1-1, the Akwa United forward – on as a 59th-minute substitute for Sunday Faleye – drove home a low shot outside the goal area 19 minutes into extra-time to hand Nigeria victory.
Nigeria made a flying start and Okpotu should have given the Super Eagles the lead with only Landu Mavanga to beat but he thought otherwise.
He wasted another good opportunity six minutes later, blazing the ball wildly across goal from the byline with two team-mates better placed.

Coach Salisu Yusuf’s gameplan
suffered a slight setback as Timothy Danladi replaced injured Kalu Orji
in the ninth minute, but that did not prevent them from dominating, but
