YEKA "First Nigerian Idol....Read more

Congrats Girl

Yeka and Naomi finally performed a song together. It was a classic. They performed a song ‘Seun rere’ originally performed by a woman popularly referred to as Nigeria’s lady of songs; Christy Essien Igbokwe. It was a moment the two contestants will cherish for the rest of their lives. While they both came on stage performing the song, the original composer and the Lady of songs herself, emerged from the back of the stage to join them in their performance to the delight of the audience. It was more like a mother grooming her daughters on their singing career path.
The two finalists had their turn on stage individually as well. They each performed a song to convince us why they should be crowed the Nigerian Idol. Anis introduced Yeka first. Before her performance, we were introduced to a flashback of her journey on the show right from her audition stage all through to her emergence as a finalist. She did a rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I will always love you’. She got so much applause from the audience and most of us would agree she is not venturing into a wrong career.
Naomi came next and we were also shown a flashback of her entire journey from her audition to her emergence as a finalist on the show. She performed a song by the Late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. She sang ‘Heal the world’. She mesmerized the audience with her performance and she got a standing ovation.
