Jennifer Lopez Promises Tougher Judging On American Idol 2012

Last season on American Idol Jennifer Lopez gave us insightful, thoughtful judging comments like “you gave me goosebumps” and “ohh, more goosebumps!” This year, Lopez promises us she’ll be tougher now that the bar has been set.

“We’re a little tougher on everybody. Because of last season and the standard that we set, it’s easy to go, ‘Is he as good as even our top 24 from last year?’”

Now that the new judges, Lopez and Steven Tyler, have been through this before and cut their teeth (oops, sorry Steven) on the process I’m hoping this is true. They don’t need to necessarily be as rough as Simon was, but some tough love can go a long way.

American Idol 2012 Pittsburgh Callbacks

American Idol 2012 Pittsburgh callbacks were fielded last week when judges: Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler, and Jennifer Lopez, paid a visit to the Steel City for the upcoming season’s auditions. Singers deemed “worthy” during the 2012 auditions were asked back to perform in front of the judges for their chance at a golden ticket.

Roughly one hundred Idol hopefuls were invited to the callbacks and many would go home empty handed, but how many left happy? No one was exactly sure though our American Idol judges confirmed they had seen maybe six singers who were Top 12 worthy. Wow, that’s pushing things way down the line.

The callback auditions were split over two days with fifty singers going in front of the judges on Wednesday and another fifty on Thursday. That’s got to make for a long day for the panel! Sounds like it made for feisty Hopefuls as well when Lopez told reporters there was some fighting going on when turned down singers decided they should have been giving one of those golden tickets. Should be fun to watch when the show is back in January 2012!

American Idol 2012 Premiere Date Set and Judges Officially Confirmed

FOX has officially confirmed the return of all the judges for American Idol 2012 after Nigel Lythgoe let the word slip the other week. Apparently Jennifer Lopez, the sole holdout, had not yet signed her contract. But now she has and is $20 million richer for it.

FOX released their usual “greatest season ever!” press release with all the highlights you’ll need for the new Idol season. Highlight of the news is the American Idol 2012 premiere date set for Sunday, January 22, 2012 on FOX.

Global icon Jennifer Lopez, rock legend Steven Tyler and Grammy Award-winning producer Randy Jackson will return to the judges’ panel for the 11th season of AMERICAN IDOL. The trio, along with Emmy®-nominated host Ryan Seacrest, will begin their search for America’s next singing superstar when AMERICAN IDOL debuts Sunday, Jan. 22 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), immediately following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME on FOX.
AMERICAN IDOL recently received an incredible 10 Primetime Emmy® Award nominations, more than any other reality program on television and the most nominations in the show’s history. Highlights include Emmy® nominations for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program as well as an Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program for Ryan Seacrest.

The final day of 2012 auditions wraps up this week, but then the judges will continue touring the country for the callback events. Lots more news should be coming soon as the new season closes in with just four months to go.
